It's not just about support - it's about peace, confidence and joy in parenthood.
In my early days as a doula, I was blessed to serve many military families as a volunteer at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego. I gained valuable experience in a variety of scenarios and locations. In August 2020, we relocated to Washington DC, and doula work became my full-time focus. I am also a mom to these three amazing humans.
I am passionate about preparing my clients with information, education, and sound decision making skills. I believe that understanding informed decision making and knowing one’s options are two of the greatest assets a person can take with them into labor and childbirth.
I believe in the body’s ability to birth, and I believe that when medical interventions become necessary, everyone in the room deserves the support necessary to make decisions and adjust to the detour.
My goal for each birth experience is to maintain a calm, positive, and non-judgmental approach while equipping you with the tools you need for confident decision making.
Journeying into parenthood brings questions, fears, and concerns about the unknown. As a doula my job is to help you prepare confidently for birth, guide you through a peaceful postpartum, and create a plan for your new role as a parent.
My love for birthwork really began when I was six years old and witnessed the completely unmedicated birth of my 9lb 7oz baby brother. I have few childhood memories, but this one stuck with me and sparked a love for all things pregnancy and childbirth.
She helped give us the positive birth story we didn't get to have with our first child. She was very attentive and responded quickly to every call and text message throughout my pregnancy. She remained flexible and balanced with the entire process from pregnancy, through labor and delivery. My husband was very impressed with her attention to detail while I was in labor... She truly is amazing and hiring her will always be one of the best decisions my husband and I could have made. She is knowledgeable beyond her years, patient, kind and passionate about her job. You won't find a better or more effective educated doula.
Amanda is wonderful. Bottom line is I wanted an unmedicated VBAC and achieved it with her support. It will forever be one of the best experiences of my life. My husband and I agree it would have been impossible without her.
Amanda has a calming presence about her and she is passionate about her work. She truly is meant to be a doula and anyone would be so blessed to have her on their team. I should also mention that the days following my baby’s birth, my partner couldn’t stop mentioning how glad HE was that we had hired Amanda. He had been hesitant about it at first but when the time came, he was so glad we had her to explain all the unexpected situations at the hospital.
